Get more involved and less impressed. ✌🏻🚦

Listening to Matthew McConaughey tell his life story in his southern-Texas-warm-Americana voice is perfection. Use an Audible credit for Greenlights. You will not regret it. The audiobook was so good that I bought the hardcover.

From Matthew’s relationship with his father, to his time in Australia with the Dooleys; from the labor, sweat, and success of Dallas Buyer’s Club, to his wet dreams that lead him to the Amazon river and later Africa to fight the toughest tribesman within the three nearest villages- this book is a wild ride. And everything is true. I don’t want to ruin any of the stories for you. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. CLICK NOW. RIGHT HERE. SO SO GOOD.

McConaughey does note that he wanted this book to be able to stand alone. He only wanted to write a book that didn’t need the McConaughey name to be great. I truly do think he achieved his goal. He uses his life story to show you the red, yellow, and green lights of our lives. His prose and gift as a storyteller shows you that he isn’t just a rom-com actor. He is an artist, a writer, a little bit crazy, and a student of life. It will make you yearn for adventure.

Rating: 5 Teeth

This book is a wisdom tooth. I know that’s a bold claim, but it is because of this recurring theme- β€œget more involved and less impressed.” 🎀 ⬇️ This line is very nuanced. Don’t get comfortable with your success. It’s okay to celebrate, but as you grow get more involved and less impressed by your accomplishments. Go deeper and do more with the power you’ve been given through your success, and make it about more. I like that. I think this is the only way to continue to take your life to the next level.

If you need more clarity about what this means, read the book. I feel like its true meaning has been impressed (ha) upon me, and the best way to comprehend the concept is to read the book.✌🏻Greenlight. 🚦
