I’m an FAGD dentist! What does that mean?

Dr. Carolyn Norton was awarded the honor of Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry at the AGD annual convention in Orlando, Florida, Summer 2022. You will notice that Dr. Norton has more letters attached to her name now.

Carolyn Norton, DMD, FAGD

What does this mean?

FAGD stands for Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. This prestigious award represents a lifelong commitment to excellence in dentistry. AGD Fellows are recognized throughout the profession as dentists who go above and beyond to ensure they learn the most current and cutting-edge technologies and procedures to provide exceptional oral care.

Dr.  Norton is constantly and consistently expanding her clinical knowledge and enhancing her level of patient care. Her relationship with dentistry is active, and she is always working on becoming a better dentist just for you. You can always count on Dr. Norton to make patient treatment decisions based on current evidence-based protocols combined with sound clinical judgement.

To achieve FAGD status Dr. Norton completed 500 continuing education hours in 18 different disciplines within dentistry. 350 of those 500 hours were in live courses. Every hour was spent with joy. Dr. Norton loves to expand her mind and stretch its boundaries. She also passed the Fellowship Examination to qualify for this award. This means taking a more advanced dental board certification exam, specifically for general dentists.

Only 6% of general dentists achieve FAGD status, so this is nothing to gloss over. Not every dentist achieves this recognition, and Dr. Norton is not like every dentist. 😉
